To be serious for a second tho Is this forgiveness? Bc I try and do the same thing but then wonder how genuine my forgiveness can really be bc if I’m being honest w myself I feel like I’m stooping down to do

Well I'm partly exaggerating about thinking less of them forever; that really depends on what happened. You have to protect yourself. But as far as forgiveness, that's less for them and more for yourself. Carrying a grudge is exhausting, internally corrosive, and self-defeating

It's also an incredible flex in most circumstances.

Yea that’s the thing. Everybody will look at you positively for forgiving which just means there’s incentive. I’ve never come to a satisfying conclusion about the whole “doing the right thing for the wrong reason” question.

As an economist I'm happy with people doing the right thing for any reason at all :)
