A thing I was considering this weekend There's a lot of Discourse about masculinity in crisis But I am very curious, what is the state of Femininity? Some hypotheses:

1. Femininity is just fine! 2. Femininity is Not Fine but no one is talking about it because (?politics?) 3. Femininity is less of an Earned state than masculinity and so not so worthy of discussion (?badly phrased) 4. People are talking about crises of Femininity elsewhere

5. Femininity has been a mess for so long no one has any notion that it's a mess 6. Something Else? I really have no insight here and would be glad for thoughtful/informed Femme Take's

so I’ve seen some of the femininity in crisis discourse but a lot of it seems to be coming from religious trad (fetish?) accounts and also terf types.

and then on the other side whatever the 2019 equivalent of ‘women who run with the wolves’ sorta loosely woo and psychoanalysis based workshop (think divine female energy)

and maybe not seeing articles in Atlantic about it. also there’s something in here about how masculinity is implied neutral (see androgyne aesthetic for non binary)

and perhaps if masculinity is implied neutral, and is claimed to be in crisis, femininity is also in crisis because it’s considered the deviation from (which imo isn’t the best way to conceptualize either!)

it also gets messy when like... masculinity and femininity are things that probably exist in everyone. so is it the concept of masculinity in crisis or is it how men relate to masculinity/know what it is/express it? I think probably both.

another thought reading thru other comments on thread is the relationships between femininity and feminism seems confusing to some. they are connected but different and feminism isn’t generally a rejection of femininity though it *could be*
