Or maybe evaluate their performance objectively and pay them by merit, not collective contracting. Oh, and include deferred compensation in the discussion. Educations dirty little secret.

The problem with that is that even the best teachers have a tiny effect. SSC did a lit review a while back, IIRC 90th percentile teachers give a 0.1SD boost which fades out completely after a couple of years. Teacher quality is practically irrelevant.

if something is really really hard to measure the possibility that its real seems questionable although what I really recall from a certain Trusted Source is that where teachers can really have a lasting impact is by being absolutely awful Good thing those teachers can be fired
