Disappointed, but not surprised, that 42% of straight people and 5% of gay people are saying would do this. We are not problems to be solved.https://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1204177190046187520 …

Oh--sorry, that was probably an error of composition on my part. I'd intended it to mean "would use to cause child to be gay" or " . . . straight", respectively. If others interpreted it as intended, 5% of respondents were deliberately selecting a gay child.

Lol that makes more sense. I guess I read the data I wanted to see. I assume that there’s also approx 0% chance they’ll ever make a tech to turn fetuses gay, while I am very concerned about the ramifications of even trying to develop a tech that would turn fetuses straight.

Would you mind if I asked you to expand on that concern? I don't have any strong feelings, just v curious--been thinking a lot about weird biotech stuff lately, and trying to map out peoples' sentiments about it. No pressure, natch, and thanks regardless.

Sure. Recently saw some rw misinformation about finding "abnormal" brain activity in trans folks. But obviously the research just meant that it was observable. They were trying to say they could make a therapy to treat gender dysphoria. Trans folks don't stress about dyshporia.
