Logistics factors contribute to scarcity, but as soon as something becomes so plentiful that it is essentially no longer scarce (rice comes to mind- cheap, cheap cheap!) other things that used to be so scarce there was low demand for become available and in more demand (meat).

in your example meat was also in demand before but not sold or produced in great quantities given the prices of meat and of other goods and the cost of producing each :o) rice is also scarce even today there are opportunity costs to its production and consumption

Right, it's just much less scarce. Truly post scarcity can never be reached, but we could reach a point where much more and better stuff was much less scarce (and have in many ways).
