Here is the legal equivalent of HR blocking candidates for mystical reasons: I have been practicing law (without a single disciplinary complaint and with success) for >20 years, and if I apply for a lawyer job, they will immediately reject me if I don't include transcripts.

It's not that I can't get transcripts or that there is anything wrong with mine, it's just that if you think my law school grades are in any way relevant to my fitness for the positions I apply for, I don't want to work for your company.

Part of me says talented people should just walk away when these tests are required. Let HR departments destroy companies until natural selection takes its toll. One HR dept added a degree requirement to my very well-written requirement. Argh, if they can do the job, who cares?

One more thing: these tests can predict political affiliation pretty well. And these tests often treat our illusions about ourselves and the world as real.
