Ok cat behavior question Zoey is 2yo and has lived with other animals often. Spayed. Penelope is 14yo and has lived with other animals only briefly.

Penelope could be scared too. Take my advice with a grain of salt as I've only been reading up on this a bit this week. But, I saw that people would not put the cats together for sometimes a couple weeks but would have feeding times together with a gate on the door.

Creates a positive association with each. I'm sure someone will give clarifying or better advice but maybe something like that would help a bit.

I have this problem with my oldest female cat, she does not get along with any of my other females, no matter how long they've been with us. I think it's a dominance thing?

She kind of is at other cats tbh Weird tho Zoey doesn't seem to be doing anything aggressive?

this happened to my friend’s cats -- turned out, older cat didn’t like how kitten smelled — they now use this cat pheromone spray (you can try different types) and the cats get along swimmingly!

I have a ton of diffusers up rn yeah Hope they take effect soon

Penelope doesn't like new cat and yowls and hisses at her. Zoey wants to be friends. Let them settle.
-
Yes. This. It’s not Zoey’s territory. She’s trying to make friends with the cat whose territory it is. This is a good sign. They will be friends, eventually.
