I mean, it's not new in the sense that the Public Sphere isn't new and it's not new in the sense that online message boards aren't new but I think it's new (or at least important) with regard to the scale and dynamics of the conversation that it makes possible

The very online will probably find books about twitter uninformative because of the ~18 month turnaround of traditional publishing (and academia is worse because people are going to check if you're making shit up). These books are probably useful for everybody except *us*.
