how is "playing hoops" actually a pragmatic concern? like if the startup were genuinely optimizing for raw pragmatic output, that's just an irrelevant concern

allowing the idea that "hoops" matters arguendo, the interesting thing to me is the split between people who would be fine with filtering in this way (because it works) vs those who don't (because it runs counter to their aesthetic)
