A huge portion of the audience for these games are “Spectrum kids who are into history and wars and strategy”, but when their games are full of these phrases it makes these particular kids treat the phrases as innocent, which makes them think the videos are also innocent

changing the game in this way is not gonna result in a different outcome

The problem is the game normalizes the phrasing as “these people are just into history, like you! It’s not that they believe these things. When you hear it it’s probably a reference to a game you both play!”

Sure but in college the critical reasoning part of their brains are more developed and they can defend by asking actual questions. Young teens don’t- they retort with “you just don’t GET it MOM” and then conclude I just don’t like his games because they’re too “complex”

i am sorry that you're worried about your child and I appreciate that but you cant sanitize the entire world and even if you could it wouldnt work legit recommendation: get him Will Durant's History of Civilization series had a very good influence on me at a similar age

alternatively, don't let him watch YouTube (but this will probably backfire) or let him talk to people who aren't mouthbreathing idiots (the lack of these being readily available to young men is a problem. They are sorely needed.)

lol yes please let me know if you have strategies for stopping a 15 year old with more time on his hands than anyone from accessing youtube and then publish that, it would be bigger business than owning YouTube itself

yeah he needs to learn to navigate it on his own and the long arguments are _part of teaching that skill_ but the psyops from both sides going on on the platform don’t help illuminate anything

wonder how sticky this is. like, I went from communist to ancap in the span of about two weeks in high school
that is, also probably good to remember teenage ideology is pretty transient
