problem is almost everybody is judgment proof, nobody can actually pay you, hence the criminal system

Laws that criminalize this are important- and I can think of nothing more dangerous to the gay community than repealing them. Do you want the 80s AIDS epidemic again? Because this is how you get that.

Incidentally: I have a family member who was one of if not the first person jailed under my state's version of the law. (Well, had- RIP)

The only difference is whether there's an additional HIV-specific law on the books, or if there's just the standard law that criminalizes knowingly exposing someone to any disease.
