its true though 2.5M gets you like a nice house but nothing special in a major city youre not gonna retire at 20 with that net worth especially at current interest rates and especially if you want to have kidshttps://twitter.com/MozarabMohan/status/1182051885047521280 …

Similar income. Feel much more comfortable than that (bc in boonies, and 25 years of adulthood acquiring tools and furniture and house) but also absolutely not rich. Two meals out per week at "family dining" tier places.
-
The subjectivity of "feel rich" seems like that place where lifestyle inflation happens, since it exists in comparison with peers. If you have people who've been in and out of homelessness in your bubble, 6 months income saved can feel like guilt-inducing obscene riches.

Downpayment? Thought most houses in Seattle/Redmond/Bellevue usually require a full cash payment due to demand.

This is so weird to me, me and my wife's combined income doesn't break 6 figures and we apparently live rather more comfortably than you, entirely based on location.
-
I suspect that there are two things (as there are w my own situation vs Eigen): 1) cost of living for some things (e.g. housing ) is much much lower 2) definition of normal / reasonable is different
