Valorizing, well, valor, served a number of purposes (including puffing up your enemies to make yourself look good) but it's not clear any of them were really all that socially valuable in a global sense.

Investing more effort into identifying the correct action and less into proficiently carrying that out seems to be the superior behavior in most presently contested fields.
