Probably. The EU may not think much of UK, but they really like its money. Besides, they will reason that there's a non zero chance that they may get the WA passed after all. You can discard anything Macron says as hot air.

Under EU rules, *every single EU country* holds veto. Including Spain (Catalan Separatists!) and Germany (Greece and Italy are watching). They won't get a deal. They can't get a deal. All we're debating now is the date of the hard Brexit.

Now in practice, Brexit's also let Europe ignore the various EU-destroying problems (Italy should terrify you), so it's likely they can get an extension. It's also likely that everything will still be on fire after the extension.
