Is it the norm to not teach economic history at the undergrad level? Wasn’t part of my major but it would have been incredibly valuable.

i wonder if intro economics classes are history classes that are pretending not to be micro, with its models that we know to be imperfect. macro, with its models that we know to be fairly outdated post-2008 would rather hear the history of the ideas than “this is how it works”

its complicated undergraduate macro is all trash, no one believes those models anymore, it's just familiarization with data concepts and math frameworks undergraduate micro is basically state of the art but less mathematical and missing a few flairs
