Kind of interesting tho China neighbors that are actually or effectively nuclear: Pakistan India North Korea Russia Japan (Australia?) How does this play out internationally? China starts putting bases in Africa? South America--would they dare? Who becomes the Sino Bloc?
Well China is already wells on it's way to owning parts of Africa so seems likely. South America would be a hell of a provocation and probably won't happen under Trump. With a different president that doesn't push back as much though, certainly on the table.
It's going to be really interesting to see if Japan can actually gain traction on rearming. Abe is trying, but there's a lot of culture pushback. Even if they do manage that they will have to get proper nukes otherwise China wins brinkmanship.
Japan has a huge navy IRL And would be incredibly costly to invade Suspect they'd rearm for real real fast under pressure I mean they could make a nuke in like ten minutes
They also need the delivery method. I'm not knowledgeable enough on how long it takes to go from reactor to missile. Vaguely remember it being quoted as around a year, but can't find a source.
Counterpoint :) https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.economist.com/the-economist-explains/2018/07/25/why-does-japan-have-so-much-plutonium …
Nice. Still need to amend their constitution, if I remember correctly, so they can actually build a nuke but that's a good sign.
