How valid is the commonly echoed complaint of the high functioning / high intelligence crowd that therapy isn’t effective bc they can’t find a therapist that is highly functioning / intelligent enough for them?

I do think there’s something past that though, In how quick a therapist is to perceive what a patient is talking about - sure the learned skill of speaking in a way that’s audience appropriate but how fair is that

Yeah a good nuance to point out. All this being said, having had horrible therapists I can see how people come to any number of conclusions. Accountability + measurement of outcomes is hard because of privacy and very latent results

Therapist has to a) be quick enough to come up with that and b) be able to sustain a challenge to their therapeutic authority based on allegedly higher intelligence.
