You had to watch things at certain times, the same times as everyone else (unless you were in a different time zone) And there were only three things on at once! Plus sometimes a government station And you know what people ate this shit up, like 10 hours a day Crazy thing is,

people LOST THEIR GODDAMN MINDS about teevee not like normal people but the Intellectuals, they absolutely hated it attributed all kinds of disorders to it, thought it was Ruining Our Country and turning people into zombies and that kind of nonsense barmy right?

And really quickly it ended up super regulated Lots of political controls and speech codes and stuff Fringes got pushed out, actors had to toe the line or they'd get blackballed, that kind of thing

There was apparently actually a "show" called _You Can't Do That On Television_ that kinda poked fun at the controls but that was kind of in the waning days

Anyway really weird to think about a world where that kind of moral panic was possible Glad it couldn't happen today with the Internet, you know? Thousands of different popular sites using a ton of different infrastructures. Plus people seem to have grown up and become chill
