I was 9 in 2003 so: was the march to war with Iraq like this? Transparent lies, posturing, everyone sitting around not buying it but not doing anything because, hey, what's there to do - no one quite admitting they're witnessing a conspiracy to commit mass murder?

I'm not saying we should be out on the streets protesting. Trump likes upsetting liberals, so liberals protesting probably makes a war more likely. But it feels so odd to sit in the center of a total consensus that this is a great act of evil, while no one does anything.

(Maybe the thing to do is to tweet at Trump that you're his biggest fan now that he's stood up to the establishment and kept us out of war, what an awesome president, good job, MAGA forever and peace forever! If you're not willing to do that to keep us out of war, you should be.)

One way to think about this is: has everyone asked themselves what they would do to prevent the invasion of Iraq if they time-travelled back to 2003 forearmed with the knowledge of the future? Would you do something? You'd have to try, right?

Because, like, I have some magical future knowledge for you about how this war will go; it'll be a nightmare. Hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, of people will die. If there's something we would have done if we'd known, why aren't we doing it?
