woo boy. dang. you're not gonna like this, but the answer is the Trumpists. MAGA is (to them) an expression of hope, though filtered through a weird kind of nostalgia. that their hopeful vision is abhorrent to so many other people doesn't bother them. they're not conciliatory.

Rationalists and post-rationalists seem to think the great problems of the world are probably tractable, which strikes me as a pretty optimistic view. There is also a certain kind of accelerationist that seems really excited to be eaten by the machine gods.
