I'm very impressed with your reading! You must have come away from all of this with a strong ethical foundation that you put into practice in your daily life. What do you think I should do differently in mine?

The claim that this argument could be settled in the arena of rational argument and philosophy is itself a fallacy

actually the claim that this could be resolved is false because I precommitted to never hold an opinion on this subjecthttps://twitter.com/eigenrobot/status/1126630915872935936?s=19 …

I quite liked that thread but I’m not sure you can make that precomittment. If at the end of your life, you never had children, then you implicitly had a stance on antinatalism, and similarly if you did have children. Whatever you choose, that is your stance

The idea that you can live in a way that is contrary to your principles is false. If your actions contradict your stated principles, then you’re wrong about yourself.

Hipocrisy indicates a lack of self-awareness or a cynical attempt to manipulate others. Everyone is a hypocrite because hypocrisy is adaptive, and self-awareness frequently isn’t. Your mental model model of yourself is most effective when it’s strategically wrong

Possible. Or you might be generalizing from one example; I have a weird mutant brain, my adaptive hypocrisy might be broken or damaged.

It’s a very weasely rhetorical strategy; I’m weird and broken and wrong, won’t you consider my ideas?

Friends this had been fun and I have learned a lot but I sense the time of parting has arrived. Why don't we all poast our GRE scores, declare a winner, and move on with our days? I'm happy to break the ice

Actually yes By the power vested in me on account of my starting this mess and having no opinion about the subject matter I declare Sam, the Victor Sam was persistently thoughtful in their argumentation and also was the only one of us wise enough to not dickwave to grad schools
