Explain this to me. He thinks reproduction is morally bad. I’m glad that he won’t reproduce. Isn’t my stance consistent with his stated ethics?

I’m quite confident that you cannot explain what is unkind about my statement without condemning sam’s ethical stance in the process. And you know it, which is why under-specified kindness norms are the only available fallback

"creating new life is unethical" is a principal that can be bandied about in a friendly way "I am glad that there will not be more people like you specifically" is a personal attack that does nothing to further the play

Isn't all this about… love? Can you find love for the children of the woman you love? Can you two, together, find love for a child that is not yours? All this talk about whether creating life being ethical or not seems like a forced way to polarize this rather simple point.

maybe I'm just trying to force my conviction on this, though - the one about mgtow simply being men unable to bow humbly before the power of love and accepting its transcendent and transforming value into their life, afraid of what lies beyond.

Well, entering into an adoptive parental relationship is very serious life commitment. I can understand getting a little prickly towards those who say that it's a moral obligation, or that those who choose not to are somehow deficient.

Agreed. I have three of my own. Caring in the same way for a child that is not my own seems weird. I might find that in me through the power of love I feel for my wife, though. All that being said - mad respect for the men who can do it.

Maybe that's the value we can find in "it's a moral obligation!" - that it's a polarized way of saying "I would really like for you to be the man who can do that". So - encouraging men into chasing that transcendent value rather than scaring them with "don't be amoral!"

I see the "cuck" rhetoric as an overreaction, but still a reaction to something toxic from feminism/SJ/wokeness: the notion that genetics don't matter, in particular they should not matter to men, and that men should have no interest in their genetic paternity of their children.

I think one general principle that applies here is that people are complicated and there's not really a hard and fast rule to be applied if you don't care to be an adoptive father you most likely shouldn't and that's fine if you don't mind and you do, that's a wonderful gift

*sigh ain't that the truth? This is probably sexist, but - it's seems so obvious to me that men simply work that way. You can incentivize us to hell and back with a little recognition and admiration. Ignore that and forever wonder why we can't care.

Yes, but. 'Future you' might care. And it might be ok for others to nudge 'present you' there. Not with "why aren't you already future you!?", though. That's just the dumbest mistake society is currently making at A-10 Warthog firing rates.
