About two years removed from the situation, it’s incredible how being without a home for < 1 year changed my perspective on things I would’ve never expected.

My home wasn’t safe for quite a while as I was growing up etc, I realized that going to police would mean I was taken out of my school which was my one constant safe environment, figured I’d be fine when I got into college but-

When in college I applied to transfer to another school and got in which my parents said they’d fund but two days before the end of semester (when I’d already signed the paperwork for leaving) they said they wouldn’t fund me anymore (my mom convinced my dad not too)

Background: Ever since I was in high school and some adults around me that weren’t also friends w my parents got to know the situation, they told me I needed to move out. I looked into emancipation, but without the ability to support myself it seemed better to live in my room

And stay removed from them as much as possible until I could stand on my own feet. It’s immensely frustrating to have people around you say “you shouldn’t live there” without any help on what to do other than that
