Ehhhhhh colleges are businesses. I TA’d and had students who were writing below sophomore level in advanced critical theory classes. People get passed through when they shouldn’t be in order to keep the income.

when I was a poli sci major my entire curriculum was "read this book before our next class so we can talk about it." (300-600 pgs) I only did it because I didn't have cable. I was one of 3 students that would and the exam was just "write as much as you know about X"
