thinking about this my occasional exhortations (to everyone? to myself especially?) to become Good in the vein of dear departed grognor seem like moralizing in some sense they /feel/ different but of course I would say the bad thing isn't bad when I do ithttps://twitter.com/chaosprime/status/1118982813506768909 …

early hypotheses 1. appeals to Virtue vs appeals to deontology 2. general exhortations aren't negotiations and this matters 3. I am actually, Bad

i think i mind appeals to virtue and appeals to deontology both a lot less than appeals to social convention that i'm assumed ignorant of and/or which forms an implicit threat

Exhortations/appeals that don't carry an intent to escalate (i.e. pursue a solution regardless) if negotiations fail are not aesthetic. Literally: the picture of outcomes should be painted. 'I want you to X.' 'What'll happen if I do vs if I don't?' "Uhh" is an incorrect answer.
