I don't think any faction should expect to get what they want out of a major change to the constitution. I think it should be changed because it's broken.

they already did in the historical civil war. I doubt it would have influenced the outcome. the northern states had far greater population size, industrial base, exploited natural resources, and transportation infrastructure. it was always a mismatch.

Slavery would definitely have persisted until it was economically unviable something they sorta gloss over in american history textbooks is how unpopular the civil war was in the north. There were a lot of northern people who were asking "why is my son dying for the slaves?"
