GRE general math is _easier_ than SAT general math, because many people taking GRE haven't had a math class in three years.

I know this was true when I took it (hell it felt easier than PSAT math) but is that still true? I thought they made the math section way harder (and verbal easier) in the past few years. Perfect score on math used to be only 94th percentile, now I think it's 98th.

My knowledge is quite a few years out of date but from a glance at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/understanding-sat-scores.pdf …, 800 SAT math is 99+ percentile (790 is 99th), so GRE would seem to be easier still.

when I took the gre 800 math was 94% maybe important to consider differences in math competence across test populations tho

GRE 2018-19 guide has a totally different scale now but the quant scale tops out at 96th percentile: page 18 of https://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide.pdf … Still way easier than SAT.
