So, why should he resign? It seems likely he agrees (and would have agreed had you asked him yesterday) that he was foolish and bad in the past. Let's just take this arguendo, if he felt no remorse easy to say throw the bum out.

So, say he grovels appropriately. What is gained by his resignation? It seems extremely unlikely he proposes much less advances anti-Black policies going forward; perhaps it's even less likely given the new optics.
