Trump is fucking horrible. But, at the same time, I think the magnitude of M4A plus suppression of second amendment rights would be nearly as bad. Hate that all you like.

What is the coherent argument against a national health insurance system? It's a pretty obvious case for public provision of the service, if it's taken as a given that having people die on the streets is unacceptable for a developed state.

No one has made it work at a more disparate scale in the US, it will make national politics even more 'winner take all', I don't trust government pricing, and I just don't want to live in a country with it (though I will tolerate some things given lack of alternative).

1. Not entirely sure what you mean here. 2. Given that both GOP and Democrats defend non-discretionary entitlements to the death, it seems likely that it would simply be accepted as background within 20 years, just as the major components of the New deal were.

Yes and I'd prefer many of those were gone too but I hardly want to hasten the (potential--transhumanism is a game changer) demise of where my family is located.

I want to see UHC work in one single state, consistently, for a decade.

The whole thing relies on economies of scale; setting it up in a single state means giving up most of the advantages and exposing yourself to complex costs due to high interstate mobility that's difficult to monitor and adjust for.

California is the size of Canada with the economy of France, I'm sure they can make the economics work. But no, they won't. Instead they'll try to impose a totalizing system on us, all at once.
