That opposition would be understandable in a way that, say, a opposition to a single payer system or opposition to more air conditioners in warehouses wouldn't, because both those things are fully within our society's means do it below at some 90% tax rate (on what?)

I'm not saying I would disassociate from anyone because of their opposition to those policies, only that "surely, there has to be an exception" sounds real lame when the hypotheticals aren't hypotheticals.
