Most of the big tech companies actually hire economists at this point. Amazon in particular has something like 250 PhDs from across micro/metric subfields for crunchy projects, but I know Uber hires economists as well, also Zillow but their work is less glorious.

Frankly you can also just slide to a Data Science role if you can do basic data programming. Easy 200k+ out the gate

My current role required nothing more than basic intuition about causal inference and a quick review of combinatorics to Ace the interview, and I fucked up the combinatorics part This is not unusual
