On this post-Thanksgiving day I am thankful that our water heater failed quietly with a small leak and not by blowing up, and I am thankful that my father-in-law, who used to be a journeyman for the gas company, was still here to help me replace it.

Frankly he could probably fix that too with a pocketknife and some Flex-Seal.

He was a helicopter mechanic, as well as a race mechanic. Maintaining helicopter engines is basically the mechanic equivalent of being a high-end surgeon.
