I was thinking about this in the US context! Seems like many reform/Secular Jews have adopted the Quaker/Puritan synthesis wholesale? Unsure where Orthodox fit in this scheme? Maybe they (you?) don't and perhaps that's indeed a blessing.

It's a sociologically and psychologically complex situation imo. I think all Jews wish to keep (whatever that verb means) their shared and distinct past, which alone, even without cultural/ethnic/religious differences should place us outside of the regular rubric. But I think

you get a split when it comes to whether non-Jews have the capacity to, and maybe even actually do, acknowledge and integrate that past into their worldview. more progressive Jews (what the press insultingly calls "American Jews") are more progressive because they see resonance
