Caplan's book shows that it's definitely not the case today (there's no effect at all, eg fear of uni turning people into sjws is nonsense). I'd be amazed if it were so in the past. No doubt past graduates had superior character but that's just due to more stringent selection.

i think the humanities or something like them could be taught in a way that makes people become Good who wouldn't bother to otherwise, but not aware of much evidence it literally happened often in the past
