That thing seems to have been instantly buried by an avalanche of self-organizing mass propaganda by the people who stand to lose political and cultural influence if the hidden tribes are allowed to coordinate openly.

It is a sign of how politically dangerous it is to acknowledge the real size of ideological cohorts in America. I think the whole "liberal/conservative" Gallup type-polling is useless, and there needs to be much better distinguishing where the larger mass of tweeners reside

I exist in a near-academic milieu where conventional liberal and conservative labels used on Twitter and popular media do not describe anyone except a token white native-born American or two.

I've lived in NYC most of my life. I know 25 kinds of left people, and 2 kinds of 'conservative' (religious jewish, and working class catholics, mostly) i don't even bother mentioning the libertarians, they're a small crazy universe onto themselves

But to the larger issue: I was thinking of mentioning something, when i see someone else made the exact-opposite point I think this is entirely wrong: TP re-aligned GOP and helped it regain footing w/ people w/ less social-conservative views. Internecine conflict *helped* thempic.twitter.com/E7cX78PZXK

Whereas i think the left, post 2016, is unable (or unwilling) to reconcile its progressive wing with its "less-so" majority (tbd), and is constantly demanding all-or-nothing via woke-media circles. Its not a healthy state of affairs

I doubt they can sustain it for very long, these woke progressives are a fractious bunch, owing to the obvious ideological shortcomings. Maybe sustainable on heavily white LAC campuses, but not in the wild.

"I doubt they can sustain it for very long" I hope not. but... i worry that being on the losing side, electorally, enables a vicious purity-spiraling, where victimhood validates itself iow, rather than searching for center by electoral necessity, defeat empowers the fringe

The more you think about what the New Democrats were, and how they gained power stealing policies from right (tough on crime, reducing welfare, etc) ... ...the more the theoretical candidate starts to resemble a smoother-talking Trump

I think it's almost surely going to happen Trumpt platform with a competent politician, probably someone like Orban
