Oh there's obviously a difference. I don't agree it would make prostitution immoral however, at least when compared to other types of work. That tweet you quoted is bad but I think you could rewrite it into something that makes sense.

I used to work on this The moral/immoral angle isnt super interesting to me but it tends to be cover for "should this be illegal" which has more worldly ramifications The main issue being "when selling sex is illegal lots of vulnerable people selling sex are beaten or killed"

Yeah, I'm confused when people use "sex workers are abused!" as an argument for criminalizing it instead of a reason to regulate it properly.

Cause and effect reversed Regulating sex work has a lot of problems too; one main issue being that a black market would continue to exist regardless, and violence would be concentrated there Likely better to simply decriminalize

Why would decriminalization flood customers with fines? I would think it's the opposite.

Oh i think the way "decriminalization" is used in the Discourse is "remove laws" where legalization indicates "replace them with a regulatory regime" Stupid usages, apologie

Not sure I get why decriminalization would work but not regulation :S

Regulation creates a partially legal market. Lots of people will still participate without registering and licensing, and they'll be vulnerable to cops and clients. Those who register will still be vulnerable to cops. Cops are a huge problem here.
