It’s not a strawman—just do the math on what % of humanity is one or more of {racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, …}, bearing in mind that failing to toe the progressive party line on even one category makes you a “bigot.”

if said person's tweets and immediate social group contained a whole bunch of hammer-and-sickle emoji havers I might.

and here we are, at the bottom of all debates, explaining irony and humor to one another

Jokes precede actuality enough times that yes, you should weight it as a factor, because to do otherwise is to shut your eyes to reality and blow out thought. You can call it postrationality or metarationality if you like, but it's just being another kind of mindkilled partisan.

Information is sitting there, staring you in the face, and instead you gotta shoot that soldier down instead of thinking about it. You can claim all your friends were eaten by egregores, but what if the egregore got to you first?
-
just as knowing the definition of ingroup and outgroup doesn't make you immune to ingroup/outgroup thinking, knowing what an egregore is doesn't provide immunity to same. I'm starting to think all it does is provide a sense of false security.

I'm mostly thinking about someone asking people to "ban the box" except re: association with fashy shit and then reading the paper about how this increased the usage of other (more inaccurate) metrics to discriminate against negatively valued characteristics in people.
-
as a fan of box, which box is being banned here
-
See, I know eigen's read papers about how when asking people straight up if they've done criminal shit was prohibited, discrimination against employment-irrelevant characteristics like apparent race increased. Bad confluence of a carceral state and people seeking maximum value.
-
My hypothesis is basically the same: If discrimination against overt association with fascism is prohibited, this may not turn out well for people who want cishet white men to be left alone. Sucks that some Hetalia cosplayers get egged but preferable versus the other worlds.

The subtext I'm reacting to here is that despite not wanting to like Nazis he finds himself attracted to them anyway. This is pretty standard in alt-right rhetoric, the whole 'I'm only moving far rightward in reaction to xyz provocation by The Libs' is a common theme.
