Licensing and oversupply of certified education were the bad things from the second half of the 20th century. Maybe it will change in the future.

Most projections out there assume fertility rates will converge to replacement, but that's really just an assumption. Fertility rates are cultural and institutional.

Only population growth converges to replacement levels in strictly Malthusian economies! I think they got it from this fact.
