Let me just clarify one thing. When we show calculations of income or wealth inequality for one country or between the countries, these are not calculations from the last week or last month or even last year.

Distributional data are complex: they are retrospective (you ask people about previous year's income), they take time to collect (whether HH surveys or fiscal), to process, analyze, graph, write about. So the lag is anywhere btw one and five years (I would put the median at 3).

So, saying "look last week the lira/peso devalued by x% and I do not see that in the data" is not a question that, within this context,. makes much sense.
