Well, one thought: Everyone says that less-intelligent people have the same full moral worth as average and smart people. (I firmly believe this.) But despite this egalitarian belief, we all keep talking and acting like intelligence is a personal virtue.

It's obviously better to be smart than not, and everyone realizes this, and our brains don't instinctively delineate well between between virtue and success.

Remember that you've self-sorted into mostly interacting with your own intelligence cohort. Don't extrapolate from how smart your friends are to the rest of the population.
