No that's definitely true, HOWEVER sometimes it's optimal to consume even when it's possible to invest Depends on a bunch of shit that I learned once when I was going to grad school, as an exercise in intellectual consumption

i was stuck in the car with the director of my group for about 3 hours, we chatted about what we do in our spare time. he works out and learns about programming (our job), I read books and crawl wikipedia for hours on end learning all manner of trivia, from history to medicine

I recounted to him some interesting facts I learned doing this He asks me, with total seriousness and genuine curiosity, "What does that help you with?" I paused for about 30 seconds contemplating "Absolutely nothing"
