Mind sharing the 10 good reasons? Really, the only one I can imagine is to better threaten other countries, like any new weapon. The US isn’t lacking in that capacity. This isn’t a race the US is about to lose. It’s pretty big to ask, why? I can’t think of a good reason.

plausible outcomes 1. complements space travel development 2. streamlines military operations 3. more effectively threatening other countries which turns out to be good 4. improved telecom a la gps 5. distracts govt from even worse uses of money 6. pax americana IN SPACE

Sounds like wishful thinking. Investing in a hair-brained scheme no one wants with no goals. Hoping a roulette President pays off. Arms race aside, war is up to drones and AI these days. Human spaceflight won’t budge. Countries—militaries—don’t benefit from self deception.

There already is Pax Americana in space. ISS is Pax Americana. The US has major advantages in every international organization. Or did before Trump started questioning them. Even for a hawk, the US is better off with bases in Europe than in space. But Trump wants to end NATO?
-
Trump is only consistent on dismantling US influence abroad. Space Force focuses the US military budget on fluff. But Putin would be happy with that. Call me cynical, but when Manafort and Trump show insane loyalty to Russia, I think they expect THAT to pay off—in straight cash.
