God I wish I knew. There appears to just be endless concentric rings of burnout that one falls through.

I used to lock myself in my room for two weeks after a semester, close the shades, turn off my phone, and play Civ 2 or MOO2 or w/e This seems necessary

for me, the key is/was to stop doing the thing i felt burnt out on, and then learn to not feel guilty for not not wanting to do it, and then not feeling guilty for not getting over the burnout. in some cases my interest/desire returned after all of that.
-
(all of that is a long-winded way to say that for me getting over burnout is really about getting over my impatience for burnout to end.)
-
This is good and probably realistic Phew I pushed that string for way too long

Time, but also, keep moving. If you burn out on work, but jog every day and paint along with Bob Ross reruns, you'll recover faster than if you just tweet and watch TV.

I think the best thing to do is separate yourself mentally and physically from the source. Go on vacation, tread lightly when you return and do as a few things as possible. Hope you feel better bud.

NEETing for a year or two helped me
-
mind you it's not the quickest method but it works, I'm now working the very same thing I earlier burnt out on, just part time because I'm not gonna repeat my mistakes
-
also dunno how familiar you are with NEETing but if you do it, you're gonna fall into a NEET hole that takes a long time to get out of; be smart about it, get advice from the chans about NEETing responsibly
-
Phew. Okay yeah I'll check that. Might aim for less than 2 years, I got a wife to outearn
