Left: everyone deserves food, shelter, and safety at a minimum. Nobody should be required to work. Right: many laws, precedents, and institutions of the US government are bad. They overcomplicate mere existence and unnecessarily restrict freedoms. Swamp actually needs drainage. https://twitter.com/EmmaGorowski/status/1021541247389814784 …

Replying to @simpolism @lsthmus
I agree it's more libertarian than right wing but pre-Trump neolib rightwing is too ideologically incoherent to be clear about which takes even fall under its banner.

"Drain the Swamp" isn't a humanist sentiment at all. Like any political stance, some parties win and some parties lose. In general, people holding stances like "thing state X is doing is obv Bad" will be upset by swamp drainage, because it necessarily entails reduced oversight.

Interestingly
@eigenrobot had a reference claiming corruption in government is actually not nearly as bad as extortion. I don't recall the specifics but it was interesting. I should have been more clear then about my right-wing stance: reduce government size even if NOT corrupt.0 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
