he's a shitty pundit but at least he's not an asshole? I can think of worse.
-
hm i think hes the worst because he could Become Good at any point in time but deliberately chooses not to
-
Becoming Good means making yourself unemployable in his industry. Being paid to be an opinion-haver prevents a person from becoming good.
-
my moral advantage in having the most worthless opinions becomes ever clearer
-
noah actually had a real economist job that he deliberately quit to write jerkoff columns
-
mad at this description of any job in economics as 'real' but i guess compared to jerkoff punditry i will have to allow it
-
harsh but fair

he blocked me and I'm so happy because it means I never see his smugly dishonest garbage anymore.
-
he and Brad DeLong and Paul Krugman taught me some important lessons
-
It's not even that I disagree with him! He's just so mendaciously selective about how he applies his principles. Everything he writes is a goulash of isolated demands for rigor and whataboutism. Any real opinions he might have play second fiddle to partisan hackery.
-
Oh yeah. And like--they worst part is he knows better, I'm sure of it Or maybe its just genuine
idk -
Ohhhhh yes. He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not like Jen Rubin who is an NPC in
@AlexGodofsky's parlance, i.e. has no agency over her own opinions. And you're right that is what makes him so obnoxious.

Trevor or Smith?
-
Oh I was thinking Smith but now that you mention it
-
Was he always this bad? He very quickly unseated Will Wilkinson as the "liberaltarian that annoys me the most." I vaguely remember him making some reasonable noises regarding SJWs vs science some time ago but now I just see smugly delivered bad takes.
-
I *think* he used to be pretty good honestly, I remember reading his stuff consistently maybe six years ago
-
Colbert was much funnier when he was satirizing conservative pundits, not being a pundit himself. Late night comedy has taken a very mean-spirited turn.
