Scientific knowledge is the informed consensus of trained experts, not the result of a mythical infallible method.

See, that's what conservatives have always been saying about Global Warming -- it's not some magical "scientific method" that backs the claims of GW proponents -- but simply the consensus of a bunch of politically motivated "experts."

I think it works the other way around. If you presuppose that there is a infallible scientific method, you cannot justify that scientific researchers find variable and sometimes contradictory results. The true value of the scientific process is the ability to find the consensus.

If you realize scientific knowledge is the informed consensus, you accept variability in climate models without having to toss aside the entire discipline. You also see why a few scientists may dissent while still accepting the results produced by the consensus majority.

Pretending that there is something like an infallible immutable method is not only historically and philosophically wrong, it is also dangerous precisely because it encourages and strengthens anti-science sentiment.

I’m not sure who this is directed towards. Variability happens, but I’m not engaging an account which immediately takes lack of 100% agreement as evidence against human-caused climate change.
