I don't even necessarily support everything on the left, for the record. I just...can't fathom why the right doesn't set an aim somewhere. Rand Paul's really the only conservative in govt. (and even he's pretty much just a leftist with a hate for government, Lbh) who does afaict.

And I say that as someone who is extremely cynical about charity effectiveness basically across the board. Most lefty charities are also ineffective. And whatever motivates people to actually think about charitable impact doesn't appear to be exclusively partisan in the least.
