interesting just binge-read _Use of Weapons_, got me thinking a bit starting to suspect ive been slipping in and out of mostly low-grade dissociative states for the past seven years, long after excising the original stimulus

If you ever turn to someone asking for you and say "(My Name) is not here", write a note to your other self so as to not be a jackass about it. Most of my dissociative states entered Management a few years back, I've recently been doing work on the rest to tidy around the edges.

That Segmentation in memory, where it was still technically accessible but wouldn't come to mind because all the tags on the memories were different, like they used a different filesystem, and so didn't show up in normal searches, has been a feature of my memory for a long time.
-
in my case it's a distinction between "yeah I saw that happen" and "yeah I experienced that"
-
Yes, that subjective distinction tracks well with the "another filesystem" one. And the reference to filesystems, plural, rather than merely "disorganized", is I can recall the event of recalling and remember days when one filesystem was "seen"... and on another "experienced"...
