I pretty generally agree with this, and also I think the obvious solution if you go the follow the logic trail is "get rid of existing schools and replace them with nonmandatory skill-based certification"

no, skill-based certification cynically misconstrues what education is supposed to do it's not about getting certifications, it's about learning things which enable you to solve problems and teach ppl (in improvised, extemporaneous ways); you have to learn *how* to learn things

it's really, really hard to predict exhaustively what skills are relevant to any enterprise or discipline to progress beyond mediocrity, you often h need to learn things beyond your "zone", but educational system only pretends to believe this, which is as bad is just denying it

I think people who are into that tend to seek out ways to do it, and people who aren't, won't, no matter how many lectures you force them to sit through
