I like pointing out the internal inconsistencies too, though. There’s a lot of anecdotes to show that that helps some people see through the absurdity. It’s stronger to say “let’s just accept your idea and see where that goes” and have it still turn out stupid.

Right. The game is already rigged. So by even tacitly playing you’re accepting contradictions, and if you insist on reason you’ll just end up back at “I actually don’t accept these premises.” So you have to know your audience and goals if you’re going to try this effectively.
